Bulk editing metadata

The Bulk Edit Metadata page allows you to edit the metadata of multiple assets at once.

If the assets you modify have any linked copies in the digital asset hierarchy, the changes you make to the assets are also made automatically to every linked copy of the assets.

The assets with information that you can modify will display depending on the permissions of your login and of the nodes. If your login does not have the required permissions to modify information for an asset, that asset will not display in the Directory tree.

To bulk edit the metadata attached to assets

  1. Log in to the Admin console.
  2. Choose Assets from the navigation pane.

The Assets page displays. The digital asset hierarchy appears under Directory.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Use the Directory hierarchy to locate and select the assets that you want to edit. Refer to Navigating the digital asset hierarchy for information about navigating to a particular directory node and digital asset.
    • Use Search Assets by Name to locate and select the assets that you want to edit (for more information, see Searching for assets).
  4. Select Edit Metadata from the Bulk Action drop-down menu.

The Bulk Edit Metadata page displays.

  5. Select Add Row to create a new row of metadata.
  6. Fill out the fields as necessary. See Fields: Bulk Edit Metadata for more information.

Note: If the metadata field you choose is already in use for that asset, you can either append the new information to the current metadata or you can choose to Overwrite the data to replace the original information with the new metadata.

  7. Select OK to confirm the additional metadata fields.

A confirmation dialog displays which fields will be overwritten by new metadata and which metadata will be appended.

  8. Select OK to save the changes and return to the Assets page or Cancel to return to the Bulk Edit Metadata page.
