Fields: Discovery Search Sources

Discovery Search Sources lets you add, delete, and edit the search sources that contribute items to your system.

If you add or edit the settings for a Discovery search source, or if you add or edit any Discovery source sites associated with a Discovery search source, you must refresh the Discovery search cache afterwards. Your changes are not reflected in Searching or the Admin console until you refresh the search cache. For more information about refreshing the Discovery search cache, see Refreshing the search cache.

Discovery Search Source List

Displays a list of all the Discovery search sources on the system.

The list displays this information:

Option Description

Code

Displays a unique code for the search source. Codes are displayed in all uppercase letters.

Name

Displays the name of the search source.

Management options

Let you manage Discovery search sources by adding, editing, or deleting sources. You can also manage Discovery source sites.

You can choose these options:

Add Discovery Search Source

Lets you add a new Discovery search source. For more information, see Adding or editing a Discovery search source.

Edit

Lets you edit an existing Discovery search source. For more information, see Adding or editing a Discovery search source.

Discovery Source Sites

Lets you manage the Discovery source sites for a search source. You can add, edit, or delete a source site. You can upload PDF or DiXML files to a repository on the Portfolio server, and configure MARC settings for any source site that handles XML data. For more information, see Managing Discovery source sites.

Delete

Lets you delete a Discovery search source. For more information, see Deleting a Discovery search source.

Note: The SD_ERC_TEMPLATE search source is protected and cannot be deleted.
