Deleting a search profile
If you are no longer using a specific search profile or need to remove it from the system, you can delete it. Deleting a search profile also removes the entry point created by the search profile from your system. The software then displays the default profile in place of the deleted profile. This means that when users try to access the URL for this search profile, the default profile will be displayed.
If you try to delete a profile that has been recently set as the default profile in another session by another administrative user, the software displays an error message indicating that the record has been modified by another user, and prevents you from saving any changes that you may have made to the profile.
When you delete a search profile, you also delete the language settings and custom page elements settings for that profile.

You cannot delete the profile that is currently being used as the default search profile. If you want to delete the default search profile, you must first designate another search profile as the default, and then delete the search profile. |
If you delete a search profile while another administrative user is editing that profile, the software displays a message to the other administrative user indicating that the record has been updated or deleted by another user, and prevents them from saving any changes that they may have made to the profile. To continue making changes to this search profile, the other administrative user must choose Cancel to reload the data and, if the profile is still available, re-enter their changes.

The Discovery administrator database metadata is cached in the Discovery Server application. The removal of search profiles will not be reflected to the patron in Searching until the metadata cache is refreshed. For more information, see Refreshing the search cache. |
To delete a search profile
- Log in to the Admin console.
- Choose Profiles from the navigation pane.
- Choose the Delete option next to the search profile that you want to delete.
- When prompted, choose OK to delete the search profile. If you do not want to delete the profile, choose Cancel.
